Windows 7 Language Packs Are Now Available

Windows 7 Picture 6 Language packs are now available to Microsoft’s enterprise customers running Windows 7 Enterprise RTM (Release to Manufacturing) and the Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (Release to Manufacturing) versions only. These language packs became available in the morning of today, August 25th, 2009.

The languages included in the language packs are:

  • Arabic
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Bulgarian
  • Chinese – Simplified
  • Chinese – Traditional – Hong Kong
  • Croatian
  • Czech
  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • English
  • Estonian
  • Finnish
  • French
  • German
  • Greek
  • Hebrew
  • Hindi
  • Hungarian
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Lithuanian
  • Norwegian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Romanian
  • Russian
  • Serbian Latin
  • Slovak
  • Slovenian
  • Spanish
  • Swedish
  • Thai
  • Turkish
  • Ukrainian

Please note that Traditional Chinese-Taiwan will later be released for these language packs.

Also those running the Windows 7 Release Candidate are not eligible for these language packs.

This was posted as a release over on Microsoft's Windows Team Blog. The source is here: http://tinyurl.com/lpfyhs . That said, this is definitely a good thing for me. I support a couple of people in my extended family who make extensive use of foreign character sets, both input and native software display. Primarily chinese, but regardless. Having these language packs ready makes it easier to test out the software they are using currently for compatability with Windows 7.
